Me again! Bay Pointe – Circa 1993!
I have been a part of the Bay Pointe family for 28 years. I moved here as a young adult and was one of only a small handful of renters in the community. As a new member to the community, I remember the rules and the expectations that were described to me by the full interview committee. I wanted to live here because it was close to my job at the time and because it was a quiet, quaint, and beautifully kept property. It was a safe and hidden little gem on the water and many people were surprised to find that it existed. As newcomers, we were welcomed and we knew that we had to meet and maintain the standards of the community in order to continue the privilege of living here. We knew that we had to respect what was in place before our arrival and we had to respect the community and our neighbors. The standard was set and we had to meet it everyday.
This is a standard that is not present today and we need to bring it back. I believe that a community should reflect the pride and values of the people who live in it.
As a renter, I became more interested and involved with the community. After all, it was my home too and I cared about the place that I lived. I recognized the need for and created the first community website as a communication portal for residents in 2007. I created an updated community logo in 2008, for complimentary Board Of Director use on community correspondence to provide a cohesive identity for the complex. I contributed content for, and maintained the community newsletter during the years of 2008 -2010. I created a full maintenance procedure manual in 2018, and I have also actively planned and helped with community events throughout the years.
After 10 years of traveling for work, I wanted to be local full time and I decided to buy a unit here. I ran for, was elected to, and served on the Board of Directors from 2016 to 2018. While we were not able to achieve the level of progress that I envisioned during that term, I learned a lot of lessons and as a board member and I was tasked with some very difficult decisions. Ultimately, it has motivated me to continue look for fair and palatable solutions, and to research and contribute whenever possible. I have learned that without like-minded teammates, common goals, and a community-first mindset, progress will be a stagnate and stalemated. Volunteering personal time as a board member is a thankless job and I respect those who have served and upheld the community standards in the past. There is a lot of work ahead of us that has to be done. With the right new team, I have no doubt that we can make the progress needed to elevate our community to the next level. I have always looked out for the safety of my neighbors and our community, and I continue to do so. I don’t live onsite full time however, I am less than 5 miles (12 minutes) away and I have the ability to spend as much time onsite as necessary.
My professional business experience includes 30 years of national, international, and global banking, audit, recovery, compliance, and defense / risk management. I traveled extensively for work and maintained my home base here at Bay Pointe. I have experience working with diverse groups, vendors, colleagues, and competitors to manage and solve complex issues in both large and small organizations. I’ve successfully built teams and managed personnel, projects, and budgets at all levels, both in-house and offshore. I am willing to work with and can work with anyone who will work with me. My expectation is that everyone serving on the board should bring their best to the table. While there are different personalities, and histories, our goal is to do what is in the best interest of the community. My desire is to serve on the board of directors with a like-minded group of people who are willing to do things correctly. It’s time to look forward and not backwards. I have no doubt that I can help to improve operations and I am willing to explore new ideas to help solve old problems.
I am a pet lover, a fairness fighter, a bargain hunter, a bookworm, an art lover, a smooth jazz connoisseur, an HGTV fan, and despite my lack of cooking skills, I enjoy watching the cooking shows!
